The miniature adapted from Osman Hamdi Bey's painting the "Tortoise Handler" was painted by the artist on gold foil with acrylic water colour paint over an ancient holograph paper.
The "Tortoise Handler" is the masterpiece painted by Osman Hamdi Bey, of which he painted two different versions in 1906 and 1907. This painting of Osman Hamdi Bey of which there is no precise information related to the source of inspiration was interpreted as the fatigue of a highbrow who tries to modernize an underdeveloped society. The painting is being exhibited in İstanbul Pera Museum. It is assumed to worth 9 million USD.edilmektedir.
