Silver Fusion Glass Cintemani Letter Opener is designed and hand manufactured with the Anatolian silvercrafting tradition without any use of dies, molds or presses by Designed by Be. St. The fused glass evil eye charm at the end of the letter opener is an unique design made from hand cut coloured Schott Glass elements mounted on top of each other and baked in a special oven for 14 hours at 800 degrees. This evil eye charm is an actual witness of a continuing adventure started in 4000 B.C. in Mesopotamia and Egypt still honoured today as the cradle of glass processing.
The “Çintemani” theme is accepted as symbolizing strength, power an authority in the Far East. The three moles accepted to emphasizes Budha’s spiritual characteristics are also found on mints of Tamerlan’s era. The Çintemani, also named the Timuçin seal, became the symbol of power in the Ottoman empire and was widely used on the Kaftans of the sultans and princes. Its first occurences on Ottoman ceramics are encountered in the "Çinili Köşk" built in 1472 by Sultan Mehmet II The Conqueror. The "Çintemani" theme that can be interpreted as the roundabout of past, future and present can also be understood as the encounter of the faith, science and art trinity within a cultural framework.
