Crescent shaped Ceramic Turkish Delight Bowl is designed and hand made by Designed by Be.St. being faithful with the tradition of the Turkish Ceramic Art at its golden era during the 15th and 16th centuries in İznik and Kutahya.
The decoration adorning the bowl consists of a long continuous stem issuing from a central point around which rings are created in a helicoidal structure that is a materialisation named the Golden Horn (Tuğrakeş) design. The stems are punctuated by small flower and leaf themes placed at specific intervals. The design is also used as a decorative element in the Royal Seals (Tuğra-i Humayun) and symbolizes immortality and infinity. Nature inspired themes like carnations, tulips, roses, hyacinths, iris, lotus and pomegranate flowers form a very rich style introduced especially in the period of Suleiman the Magnificent by the palace head designer (nakkas in Turkish) Karamemi who was the apprentice of Sah Kulu. The flowers adorning the Turkish delight bowl were selected among the various flower themes painted on the unequaled ceramic tiles of the Rustem Pasa, Sultan Ahmed, Piyale Pasa and Eyup Sultan mosques in Istanbul.
