Tayfun Küçükcan

Tayfun Küçükcan was born in Yerköy, Eskişehir in 1964. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University. He learned and experienced how to make ceramics during his study. After working at several ceramic workshops including Mustafa Yorgun, Tayfun Küçükcan founded his own workshop at Avanos in 1991 and using alternative multi firing technique. Since then he has been making ceramics as a freelance artist and he is the most recognized ceramic artist at Cappadocia Region. 

The ceramic artist is specialized in primitive techniques especially in Raku, which was developed in Japan 400 years ago. Raku means comfort, pleasure, delight and joy, giving surprising results. In addition to Raku Tayfun Küçükcan also uses other primitive techniques such as pit firing, smokesaggar, barrel firing
