Serap Yurdaer Erboy

Serap Yurdaer Erboy started her studio in 2003, in the picturesque and historic town of Alacati, located on the Aegean coast in Turkey. For years now, she has combined her passion of domestic materials and sculptural elements by bringing them to the wheel, glazing and then firing them on an electric kiln.

Once she had chosen to adopt various techniques where she uses the effect of fire on clay surfaces, her work flourished and took a different direction. Each of her pieces is formed by one single ball of clay, allowing it to grow and mature into its final form. Her recent work reflects the continuation of her interest in handshaped ceramics, where no one piece is identical. Each is unique in itself. Her work can be described as simple yet sophisticated, rather more like the work of an explorer than a ceramist.

Serap Yurdaer Erboy's art work is represented by national amd international galleries and has been featured in leading publications including NeueKeramik,Turkish Ceramic Federation, Cornucopia, MaisonFrancaise, House,Beautiful, Elle Decor, Brigitte,Madame Figaro, Conde Nast, Food & Travel and Instyle Magazine.
