Fuat Başar

Calligraphist and marbling artist Fuat Başar who was born in Erzurum in 1953 left his medical education unfinished and started to deal with calligraphy in 1976. He carried on with the art with several difficulties and encountered with Hamid Aytaç, and started to receive training from him by means of firstly exchanging letters, then in his workshop. In the meantime, he was interested in marbling art and started to make researches on this field of art. He artist who settled in İstanbul in 1980 received training from Hamid Aytaç in calligraphy, and from Mustafa Düzgünman in marbling art. There are many unpublished poems of the artist who also took interest in music and literature. He trained many students in the fields of calligraphy and marbling art. He held many exhibitions in and outside the country. His masterpieces took place in several national and foreign collections and museums. He designed the seigniorages of many statesmen and ministers including the Japanese emperor, Malaysian president and the Saudi Arabian King Feisal. 

He is continuing to his works in his workshop in İstanbul, Küçükayasofya district.
