Necati Korkmaz

The artist who has been making researches regarding the forgotten traditional Turkish arts since 1995 and who has been specialized in the Islamic monastery arts and Gubari calligraphy, is the only representative of this art in Turkey, which he mastered with his personal efforts.

Gubari calligraphy is the art of writing down miniature calligraphies on tiny objects such as lentil seed by means of using a brush made from fox’s whisker, under a microscope. Mütteka is the meditation cane used by the dervishes as a support, which they put under their chins for brief relaxing moments in order to avoid the state of sleep during their 40 days of suffering period. Another purpose of use was to use it as a support to the head during the deep meditation moments.
